Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eye tracking with diagonal movement of upper extremity to muscle activity of shoulder and upper trunk.
Method : A total of 10 healthy people aged 20¡30 years participated in this study.
All of them performed randomized exercises that consisted of diagonal movement of upper extremity to pull a pulley from under knee and to place over a switch with eye tracking or no eye tracking. Muscle activities of upper extremity and trunk were recorded by EMG.
Results : There was significant difference on the diagonal movement of upper extremity with eye tracking (p<.05). Muscle activities of the trunk were increased both dominant side(57.18¡¾3.57 and non dominant side (50.88¡¾1.41). For activity of the shoulder, there was significant difference(p<.05). Muscle activities were decreased on upper trapezius (19.91¡¾4.07) and middle trapezius(32.28¡¾1.46).
Conclusion : Diagonal movement of upper extremity with eye tracking improved proximal segmental stability and balance and decreased stress while shoulder movements. Therefore, it will be effective for patient with shoulder impingement.
